The Navy Midshipmen are the 42nd team in our 2022 men’s college lacrosse schedule preview series and the fifth team from the Patriot League. Navy went 6-3 overall in 2021 and 4-2 in Patriot League play. The Midshipmen fell to Loyola in the Patriot League quarterfinals.

Here's their entire 2022 spring schedule:

WHO'S IN?

  • Mercer Bears (2/12)

  • Hofstra Pride (2/18)

  • Manhattan Jaspers (2/20)

  • High Point Panthers (2/26)

  • Colgate Raiders (3/12)

  • Johns Hopkins Blue Jays (3/18)

  • Holy Cross Crusaders (3/26)

  • Boston University Terriers (4/2)

Despite being Patriot League opponents, Boston University, Colgate, and Holy Cross did not play some of their league foes (Navy was one of them) last season due to the Patriot League's temporary division formatting.

WHO'S OUT?

  • Jacksonville Dolphins (13-6 W)

  • Furman Paladins (19-3 W in 2020, Furman disbanded their program that summer)

  • Richmond Spiders (12-9 L in 2020)

CIRCLE THESE DATES

  • 2/18 at Hofstra: This will be the first time these two teams have met since 1999. Joe Amplo was a senior on the Pride and is entering his third season as Navy's head coach. He's 0-2 against his alma mater as a head coach, those came when he was with Marquette.

  • 3/18 at Johns Hopkins: Thank god this series is back, it should have never left. The teams were supposed to meet in 2020, but the global COVID pandemic was just starting. This will be the first meeting since 2017, with the Mids losing the last five matchups.

  • 4/9 vs. Loyola: There's about three or four teams that have solid chances of making the NCAA Tournament this season. Loyola and Navy are two of those teams. Navy really needs to stand out in conference play with big wins, especially against the Greyhounds. The Midshipmen lost two of three to Loyola last year, including in the Patriot League quarterfinals.

  • 4/23 at Army West Point: Do I really need to say anything about this matchup? If you know this rivalry, you know what this game and series means for everyone involved. Navy is 5-3 against the Black Knights since 2015.
