Previewing Siena's 2022 men's lacrosse schedule

The Siena Saints are the 46th team in our 2022 men’s college lacrosse schedule preview series and the third team from the MAAC. Siena went 0-8 overall in 2021 and 0-6 in MAAC play in a conference-only schedule. The Saints fell to Monmouth in the MAAC quarterfinals.

Here's their entire 2022 spring schedule:

WHO'S IN?

  • Providence Friars (2/19)

  • Army West Point Black Knights (2/23)

  • UAlbany Great Danes (3/2)

  • Dartmouth Big Green (3/5)

  • Marist Red Foxes (3/26, did not meet last year due to COVID problems within Marist)

  • Holy Cross Crusaders (4/23)

WHO'S OUT?

  • Detroit Mercy Titans (11-9 L, Titans moved to ASUN)

  • Hobart Statesmen (26-9 L in 2020)

  • NJIT Highlanders (12-5 W in 2020)

  • Fairfield Stags (21-12 L in 2020)

CIRCLE THESE DATES

  • 3/2 at UAlbany: I'm a big fan of seeing this game happen between the two Capital Region programs. It'll be the first time they've gotten together for a regular season game since 2016 and there's plenty of Great Dane ties at Siena. The entire coaching staff (excluding undergrad assistants) are UAlbany alums, led by head coach Liam Gleason.

  • 4/22 at Monmouth: Last season could've been a lot different for the Saints. Seven of their eight games were decided by two goals or less. Four of them were decided by a goal with two needing overtime. Both Monmouth games were decided by a goal, with the regular season meeting being decided in overtime. Does Siena have enough to turn those close losses into wins?

  • 4/30 vs. Quinnipiac: The second half of Siena's conference schedule is all at home, including the regular season finale against the Bobcats. Quinnipiac went on a three-goal run in the third quarter en route to a 7-5 low-scoring game. Hoping we see more than 12 goals combined this year.
