Previewing Wagner's 2022 men's lacrosse schedule

The Wagner Seahawks are the 16th team in our 2022 men’s college lacrosse schedule preview series and the second team from the NEC. Wagner finished 1-9 overall in 2021 and 1-7 in NEC play. The Seahawks failed to make the NEC Tournament.
Here's their entire 2022 spring schedule:

WHO'S IN?
Fairfield Stags (2/19)
NJIT Highlanders (3/5)
WHO'S OUT?
Hofstra Pride (18-6 L)
Hartford Hawks (18-9 L in 2020)
CIRCLE THESE DATES
3/5 vs. NJIT: Wagner is 5-0 all-time against the Highlanders, with two meetings decided by a pair of goals and another by three goals. Both teams have struggled to garner wins for the duration of their respective programs which makes this a valuable opportunity for both teams to feel good after a game.
4/2 vs. Sacred Heart: The Seahawks got one win last year, a two-goal decision over the Pioneers in Connecticut. Down 7-3 at halftime, Wagner outscored Sacred Heart 8-2 in the final 30 minutes for their first NEC conference win since 2017 (their win over LIU in 2020 was a nonconference contest). Danny Brady made 20 saves in goal. This should be another opportunity for Wagner to earn a win, and a conference one yet again.
4/16 vs. Mount St. Mary's: Wagner has two all-time wins against Mount St. Mary's, and they both came within the last decade. Bryant and Saint Joseph's as established themselves as the top of the conference, but if the Seahawks can progress year in and year out under Bill McCutcheon, they can certainly contend for a spot in the NEC Tournament. But it will take time, see Manhattan last year.
